Acer Laptops Cheap
In our quest to find Acer laptops that are cheap, we have stumbled upon a very interesting Acer model. The Acer Extensa 5630G is a laptop which offers a good balance between price and portability and can definetly satisfy the mainstream segment of laptop consumers. By mainstream segment i mean people that only need a computer that will allow them to surf the internet, do some document and spreadsheet work and run other simple tasks like multimedia applications and some old and simple games.

As far as the design goes, the Acer Extensa 5630G looks like almost all the other Acer Extensa models. It is entirely black which makes it serious and elegant but may be a bit boring at the same time. The lid is simple and has the silver Acer logo in the upper left corner. When you open the lid, you will find that the keyboard is smiling at you. What i mean is the layout of the keyboard is curved and if you look at it from above it looks like this giant smile. It’s actualli kind of funny when you think about it. One thing we didn’t like is the fact that the palm rest area is filles with stickers which have the specs of the laptop written on them. We know this is a useful marketing strategy for laptop inside a big store where customers have to walk between shelves filled with dozens of laptops to choose from. However, we would aprreciate it if they wouldn’t use this sticker method and they would just print the specs on a piece of paper and put it on the shelf next to the product.

On the left side of the keyboars you will find a set of quick launch buttons that may come in handy for quickly launching you e-mail client of default web browser. As for the keys, they offer a positive response when typing and the layout did not disturb us even if we never used such a curved keyboard before. The touchpad is also nice to use but the left and right mouse button make an annoying clicking noise. Even if the 15.4 inch display is matte instead of glossy, you can still see some reflections but only if you are in a powerful lit environment or outdoors on a sunny day.

You can’t complain about the number of ports and connections on this laptop. On the front side you will find the headphone and microphone jack plus a Card Reader. You will also find the wireless switch and the Bluetooth switch. If you buy your unit without an integrated Bluetooth device than the Bluetooth switch is pretty much useless. This laptop uses the Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 processor which operates an the speed of 2.0 GHz. It also has 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, 320GB of available disk space and the graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD3470. You have 4 USB ports which should be enough for a mainstream laptop, VGA out an Express Card slot, a Card Reader, an Ethernet port and HDMI out. Above the display you will find the webcam that produces high quality images and videos especially if you use it with the Skype application that can broadcast real-time videos.

Even if this laptop does not have the fastest end most powerful processor on the market it will provide you with enough speed to help you finish your everyday computer tasks. The graphics card is also very weak so you will not be able to play any premium games but you can still run some old games that don’t have high requirements. Even if you can find some similarly price laptops which have more RAM, 2GB should be enough to provide you with some speed to run the applications you need. However if the RAM memory is enough to you, you can always choose to upgrade. There have been no hitting problems with the Acer Extensa 5630G but you should be very careful where you place this laptop. If there is anything blocking the air-vent then you will have a frying pen instead of a laptop. If you find yourself in the situation where you have to choose between Windows Vista and Windows XP operating system you should choose Windows XP without giving it any second thought. There have been tests performed on both operating systems but Windows XP with SP3 has provided the best results.

Another Acer laptop which is cheap is the Acer Aspire 1410. It has a 11.6 inch display which makes it ultra-portable and it’s a lot better than other $400 netbooks on the market. It has a 1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Solo ULV SU3500 processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, another 250GB of free space plus an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD Video Card. It is a very light laptop which makes it easy to carry wherever you go. Even if the plastic case may seem a little cheap we can assure you it is more durable than other laptops that cost $1000. You should have no problems with the keyboard because it is one of the biggest we have ever seen on such a small laptop. The weird thing about the touchpad is that you can’t tell where it begins and where it ends because Acer has chosen a special design where the touchpad blends with the palm rest. The display of the laptop was a 1366×768 native resolution which is higher than most netbooks on the market. It is nice to see that the Acer Aspire 1410 is not like most netbooks because it has chosen a different processor rather than the Intel Atom processor that netbooks usually use.

Your laptop will also come with a lot of preinstall software so one of the first things you are going to do is some serious disk cleanup. Your system will probably come with Windows Vista preinstall so you are going to put the 2 GB of RAM to perfectly good use. You can still run some multiple applications but they still have to be basic like your Mozilla internet browser plus the text editor. This laptop can be purchased for less than $500. However we don’t recommend you use it as a desktop replacement because this is more like your second computer.
