Sony – Vaio Laptops Reviews
The Sony VAIO series was designed especially for multimedia purposes and that is exactly what they are good for. Today we are going to check some Sony VAIO laptop reviews and specs just to get a general idea if Sony VAIO laptops are any good.<-300250 Medium Rectangle center->The Sony VAIO FW480J/T has a starting price of $1200. For your money, you will get a very elegant laptop, both slim and good-looking. The lid has a great color, looks like its all covered in chocolate and the inside of the laptop is black. The keyboard is similar to what we have seen in all VAIO models, with keys which are separated by small spaces and this makes the keyboard easier to be cleaned. The processor is good; with the 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo P7350 and 6 GB of RAM you will have no problems with slow running and your applications should be executed at excellent speed. You get 400 GB of HDD which should be more than enough to store any files considering that this is usually the amount of free space you get when purchasing a gaming laptop and we all know those need a lot of space. The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 is not much of a powerful graphics card but it will do for regular usage of the laptop, even if you wont be playing any premium games with it.
Of course, above the keyboard you will find your usual Sony VAIO multimedia control buttons which help you adjust the sound volume and are necessary for multimedia playback. Unfortunately, these buttons are not touch sensitive and you dont have any back lights this could be nasty if you need to use this buttons in the dark or in a poorly-lit environment. The speakers are right between the keypad and the display and this gives pretty good sound quality. The display is 16.4 inches long, which is quite big come to think of it. This should be good when you want to enjoy a good movie (and we know you are going to want to enjoy a lot of movies now that you have Blue-ray). You have a lot of ports and connections with this laptop. 3 USB ports, mini FireWire, Express Card, SD card reader, HDMI and VGA output plus the Ethernet, stereo speaker, microphone and headphones jack should be enough. The really cool features are the Blue-ray player plus DVD burner and the integrated Bluetooth which has become a pleasant surprise in laptops nowadays.
Unlike most Sony VAIO laptops, the FW480J/T did not come with unnecessary pre-installed programs like we expected and this saved up some of our time as we dont have to perform major disk cleanup and get rid of all those useless applications. Most of the programs you will get with this laptop are multimedia program which you may find useful and fun to use. Using the video battery drain test, the battery of this laptop lasted around 3 and half hours with the 12-cell battery. We expected a bit more from this powerful battery but its still better than other similarly configured laptops with the same pricing. To buy or not to buy that is the question!
Another Sony VAIO laptop review we thought would be interesting to present is about the Sony VAIO VGN-A690. This model is a bit more expensive than others (with a starting price of $2800) but just by taking a good first look at this laptop you will get a hint as to why is it pricier. Even If this laptop is a bit heavier (8.6 pounds) the laptop is thin and elegant. This 17 inch laptop is a perfect multimedia monster and desktop replacement. One thing we really appreciated was the VAIO Zone suite that came installed on this laptop. You have lots of great applications like a recording audio player. With its help you can record your favorite TV programs and manage your home videos and DVD movies. Robert M Pardes . This can be done with the programs friendly user interface. As for the specs, the Sony VAIO VGN-A690 comes with a 1.86 GHz Intel Pentium M 750 processor and 1 GB of RAM which is not exactly super-speed material but it will help you get things done and use all your multimedia applications with no trouble at all. 100 GB of available disk space should be enough to store your favorite movies, music and pictures and if it isnt, you can always use the DVD burner to make copies of your files and free some disk space. You get a one-year warranty and other benefits in case of laptop damage.
Another wise Sony VAIO choice would be the is great because it has a long battery life and its light and slim which makes it easier to carry it around. Since the laptop is 11.1 inch long, you can imagine the keyboard is not very big and this may be a problem for people who have big hands. You get an integrated Bluetooth device and thats good but you have to pay $2300 for this system and thats bad. The battery life will vary between 4 and 7 hours depending on various factors like if the wireless function is turned on or if you are watching a movie or just reading or writing a text document each of these tasks require different battery power. Overall, this is a laptop made for business man that travel frequently and need a good machine with long-lasting battery life. Even if its light, this laptop is very durable as it was made of carbon fiber and other carbon composite materials. If 60 GB of free disk space are not enough, you will benefit from the USB ports that allow you to copy your files to the memory stick and the DVD burner can also help you to make DVDs with your files and then delete them from your laptop. As you already noticed, Sony VAIOs multimedia laptops are actually good for a whole range of people with different occupations. While some are better for businessmen, others are great for students. No matter what your profession may be, Sony VAIO takes care of you as a customer, bringing you a high-quality computer.
