Sony Vaio TT Laptop
I guess that the Sony VAIO tt laptop is something you can call „the 11.1 inch wonder”. Although it has more than one year since the release date, this laptop’s number of fans is still growing as we speak. And this is because Sony intended to give us the power of a laptop in the size of a netbook. We are amazed!

This small beauty weighs about 1.30 kg and the design is eye-cathing, due to the carbon fiber used in manufacturing. Inside the chassis of this wonder, Sony has placed an intel Core 2 Duo processor, a Mobile intel Series graphics card plus 4 GB of RAM and 160 GB of available disk storage. This should be enough since you probably have another computer which you use and this Sony tt is your secondary PC. There is no similar sized competition as this is the best small laptop that money can buy. Even though the graphic chip shares the system memory but nevertheless you are going to love the Sony VAIO tt laptop because it is nothing you have even seen before. Plus you can imagine that very powerful components inside such a small case could have caused some serious heating problems and Sony sure didn’t need that kind of trouble on their hands as one of these small gadgets is priced around 2000 dollars.

You have the usual integrated set of ports and connections (LAN port, USB ports, VGA output and a memory card reader) plus a 0.3 mega pixel webcam to stay in touch wherever life may take you. You can benefit from the Bluetooth device and wireless card and you also have a 3G modem for your desperate internet-needing moments. The display showed us some beautiful and sharp colors and if the size does not please you, you can use the HDMI output to attach a large monitor. The keys may be a bit of a problem since they are quite small but you will get use to it in no time. The spacing between the keys can be found on this series’ laptops as well and that makes it easier to clean (with the risk of striking the wrong keys – no problem for advance laptop users though). We are ok with the touchpad as well and the mouse buttons are larger than the ones you usually find on a laptop this size. What is truly amazing about this small-sized laptop is the Blue-ray feature of the DVD drive that brings you the possibility of watching real high-definition movies. The 8x dual layer DVD drive will also let you make backup DVD’s with a maximum of 8.5 GB.

Two of the Sony VAIO tt laptops come with an integrated fingerprint reader for secure logging into your laptop and we can now skip password entry. This way, there is no chance that anyone can turn on your laptop and mess around with any of your documents, read them, modify them, copy them or delete them. Performance is balanced as they are not the most powerful laptops we’ve seen so far but there are some benefits you can get from using this small laptop. Using the PCMark benchmark testing, we found out that this laptop is above any other netbook ever tested. However, the graphics were not that highly-rated but this is a normal issue when we are dealing with integrated graphics. Should you travel by plane a lot of hours and feel the need to relax and read a good e-book, we’ll have you know that the battery of the Sony VAIO tt lasts a bit over 6 hours.

The Sony VAIO VGN-TT290YBB is one of the most expensive models we have ever seen in a Sony. With a price of $3350 dollars we think this laptop should be cheaper considering that it’s the components inside that make the difference and this model in not that amazing as its price. It is a light and thin laptop which you can easily carry around at school, university, office, vacation, bus travel, car travel, plane travel or when you are just sleeping over at a friend’s house. You have the same 11.1 inch display and the Intel Core 2 Duo processor that comes with 64 GB of memory. You also have an Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chip and 64 GB of RAM and this being said we are not sure what makes this laptop so expensive. We can only assume that people who will buy this over-priced laptop are business men/women for whom the price is not that big of a deal (plus the idea of owning a Sony gives you kind of a fancy look, doesn’t it?). The battery performance is good but you can find a laptop or netbook with similar specs and which costs less than $2000.

We recommend the Sony VAIO tt laptops if you have some extra money you are willing to spend on a good looking gadget that most people cannot afford. Owning this little laptop is going to make you somehow unique due to the overpricing that everybody is aware of. Be careful, some might call you crazy for buying such an expensive computer when there are very decent netbook out there which you can purchase for half the price. But then, you wouldn’t be the proud Sony VAIO tt user. I wonder if the “tt” has anything to do with AUDI TT. It was one of the first things I thought about when hearing the name of this series. Anyway, our guess is the many people who buy this laptop do so because it is the lightest laptop with Blue-ray technology in the entire world or they just like the idea of owning such an expensive accessory. This laptop is definitely not a good choice for you first computer and it is no good if you usually need high performance gaming laptops. It is available in 4 different color options (the carbon black which is the standard color, silk black, red and a golden-yellow).
