Sony was founded in 1946 and the company has been developing and manufacturing many important electronic parts and devices. This is why, Sony VAIO laptops are designed for multimedia purposes.

They weight around 3 pounds; they have a 13.1 inch display and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor which make them irresistible. Yes, they are the Sony VAIO Z Series laptops, which come with a huge list of great features that are sure to draw your attention. 320GB of disk storage should be enough for your favorite movies, music and even pictures. Other features are the nVidia GeForce 9300M GS graphic card, the DVD-RW drive (plus the blue-ray burner), mobile broadband support, wireless and Bluetooth.

Take the Sony VAIO VGN-Z670N/B for example. It’s thin and light and easy to carry around. It has 4GB of RAM which should be more than enough to satisfy your needs. This model has a 2.66 GHz CPU speed and a HDMI port that allows you to watch your favorite movies from your laptop directly on your TV or desktop monitor. You also have a fingerprint reader, great for protection and speeding up the log process. This laptop balances between power and portability. The battery has a good performance, so you can forget about plugging it in for a while.
The Sony VAIO VGN-Z530N offers speed and performance without draining your battery too quick. You still get that 13.1 inch display and that carbon fiber case you fell in love with in the first place. The cylindrical display hinges and the aluminum that covers the deck are clear signs of elegance and class. The keys are a delight to type on and there is some free space between them which should make the keyboard easier to clean. Did we mention about those two buttons above the keyboard which can be customized for your preferred shortcuts? Or that nice and useful switch that helps you to quickly change between speed and stamina? On the left side of the laptop you will find the Ethernet jack, one USB and one FireWire port, the modem and another two jacks for your microphone and headphones. In front you have the wireless switch, the memory stick slot and an SD Card. The right side was dedicated to another USB port, DVD-RW, HDMI output and the VGA connection.

Since the price is a bit lower than 2000 dollars, the Sony VAIO VGN-Z690PEB may be a bit too expensive compared to its competitors, other thin and light laptops available on the market. The pattern is pretty much the same: 13.1 inch display, the laptop weighs 3.5 pounds, it has a Inter Core 2 Duo processor, the graphic card is a nVidia GeForce 9 series (256 MB) and the disk storage capacity is 320 GB. The good thing about this laptop is its speed (2.53 GHz) which makes it faster than other models available at similar prices. However, the graphic card can eat up a lot of RAM and this leads to slowing down the laptop. Should you have a wireless network at home, you will be able to use the internet from any room in your house thanks to the wireless capacity of the VGN-Z690PEB.
We’ve checked out some reviews and would definitely recommend the Sony VAIO Z550. The design is pretty much the same as that of other Z series laptops: you still get that great-looking carbon fiber case, the aluminum touch and the raised keys with spaces between them. As for the performance, other small-sized laptops should bow down before the Z550. Thanks to the Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2.40 GHz and 3 GB of RAM, this laptop will come in handy for pretty much anything you want to do with it. It is recommended you use Windows Vista with 64 bits so you can benefit from all you RAM and get all the desired speed (your graphic card may use up quite a lot of your shared memory). You also get that dual layer DVD burner to store up some useful files on your DVD’s. We know that battery life is a very important aspect for you so we can tell you the maximum time your laptop will run without being plugged in is 3 hours. A new battery is quite expensive (about $250) but it’s a small price to pay for portability. What more could you ask for? The Sony VAIO Z550 has got the size, the speed, the looks and the performance. It is a durable laptop thanks to its design and inside you will find some high-quality components. It will not overheat like many other laptops (thanks to Sony’s good ventilation system) and the fan does not make that much noise if we compare it to what you use the laptop for. Since it’s a Sony it means the audio/video features are of good quality (for a laptop) and you also get one-year warranty. Would you pay 2100 dollars for all this?

Due to the price and the features, the Sony VAIO Z series has a special elite of customers who are willing to pay a lot of money for elegance and power. This series has some features that regular laptop users might find useless. We’re referring to the fingerprint sensor located between the touchpad buttons. This sensor may be used for authentication on secure websites, a feature that comes in handy mostly for businessmen. Although we’ve nothing but good things to say about these laptops, we must worn gamers. This laptop is not for gaming purposes so you may be disappointed if you have such expectation. However, as far as multimedia experience goes, we have nothing to complain about. Just take your Sony VAIO Z on a business trip, work a little, write some more and then relax and enjoy a good HD movie or put on the headphones and listen to some of your favorite tracks.
